Where I'm at.

As many of you know by now, I fell and broke my leg on the 21st of January this year. As a result of that accident, I am sad to say that “Meditiations on the Passion” will not be performed at the Church of St. Andrew in Marblehead, MA this year. Please spread the word to any friends. Without my help, there would have been too much work to do it properly in the time allowed.

The church’s commitment to continue the work is unabated, as is mine. The most encouraging development to me is that St. Andrew’s has a new music director. Those of us with a long history in its performance have agreed to give as much advice, encouragement and support as he requires. Given my accident, I could not have accomplished that this year.

The good news is that my recovery is progressing quite well. My beloved spouse and recent caretaker Joan Sherman has returned to work. We have engaged one of our dog Snowy’s best human pals to walk her, so she is not doing badly herself. I check in with the surgeon on Tuesday to re-evaluate my recovery and get some insight on how long it may take before I can safely get back to work at the local Apple store.

Meanwhile, the CD recording of “Meditations” continues to be an option for both purchase and/or distribution. I am so grateful that this recording exists, and to its producer Dave Mattacks and everyone involved with it for its high quality. and its faithfulness to the work’s history. I pray that it is a witness to a Gospel I have always seen as transcending any attempt by humans to limit God’s love.
